The Birth of a Vision

Prof. Francis Wambua Mulwa (PhD) and Dr. Ruth Katunge Wambua (PhD) are the Founder Directors of Premese Schools and Colleges — a dream they have nurtured faithfully since 1992.

— Since 1992

Premese Africa Development Institute (PADI), a Pan-African Training entity, was the mother company which gave birth to Montessori Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher Training College and Four Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 slowed down PADI training activities, giving way to the option of expansion and greater consolidation of schools and the ECD College — turning a challenge into a season of growth.

Prof. Francis Wambua Mulwa (PhD)
"Munyu Wa Ngai Nduiawa"

Prof. Mulwa's story is one of remarkable transformation — from a playful village school pupil with a poor KCPE grade, to attaining Division One in EACE (equivalent to KCSE Grade A-) at Mumbuni High School in 1972.

He holds a PhD in Development Studies from UNISA (2004) and was awarded a Professorial Accolade by a government-accredited university in Spain, conferred at Kigali, Rwanda in 2012.

He has lectured at Tangaza Catholic University, St. Paul's University, and Africa International University — and authored numerous academic books and journals used in universities across Africa.

Dr. Ruth Katunge Wambua (PhD)

A product of Kenya's Precious Blood Girls High School, Dr. Ruth began her career as a P1 teacher before rising to S1 Post-Primary Teacher status.

She earned her BEd from Daystar University in Nairobi, then her Master's Degree in Educational Counseling from Durham University in Britain — before resigning from the Teachers Service Commission in 1999 to launch a private Montessori Teachers Training College.

She later completed her PhD at Kenyatta University, graduating at the University of Atlanta, USA.

Pan-African Impact

Prof. Mulwa and his team of graduate professional trainers traversed 15 African countries conducting training for capacity building through short courses. Eventually, they launched academic courses leading to Diplomas and Certificates accredited by the Ministry of Education in Kenya.

Course participants were drawn from Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Government-Sponsored Programme Managers, NGOs, Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs), and Self-Employed Entrepreneurs across Africa.

Premese Africa assembled a team of seasoned graduate trainers — men and women — who raised the bar with a rare standard of quality professional training on the continent. Some went on to earn PhDs and become university lecturers. Others rose to prestigious positions in Parliament and County Assemblies.

We give all glory to God.
